UN hails efforts to tackle food crisis

The UN welcomes the efforts being made around the world to alleviate the global food crisis, Deputy Spokesman for the UN Secretary General Farhan Haq said at a briefing, answering a question about a US Treasury Department license issued the day before, explaining that food for people and animals, organic and mineral fertilizers, medicines.


Amid reports of progress in Russian-Ukrainian negotiations mediated by the UN and Turkey, the ministry issued a 6B general license, which clarified that food for humans and animals, organic and mineral fertilizers, seed and seed materials are not subject to restrictions , agricultural machinery, drugs and medical equipment.

“It is important for us to encourage all efforts around the world to understand what can be done to alleviate the severe global food crisis. So we are grateful for any steps in this direction,” Haq said.
